Mojave Rattlesnake
Often called the “Mojave Green,” this snake’s venom is ten to twenty times stronger than that of Nevada’s other five rattlesnakes. Fortunately, bites are rare. Mojaves live in areas where creosote bush is common and the snake’s faded greenish color helps it blend with that background. Mojaves grow to between three and four feet long and, like most large rattlers, eat mostly rodents. They are active mainly at night. Like all rattlesnakes, Mojaves are born alive rather than hatching from eggs.
