Glossy Snake
This medium-sized constrictor grows to lengths of about three feet, and is active only at night. Its faded colors lend it another name – “faded snake.” Glossy snakes are found from low desert valleys to rocky hillsides, but are not often seen except when they cross roads at night. Although they certainly can bite, glossy snakes are usually reluctant to do so. Like most of the twenty one kinds of snakes found in southern Nevada, the glossy is completely harmless to people.
