Title of Data: Southern Great Basin Digital Seismic Network (SGBDSN) waveform data for local earthquakes, 2000-2003.

Description: The data consist of seismic waveforms recorded at the stations of the Southern Great Basin Digital Seismic Network for local earthquakes during the period 1/1/2000 through 9/30/2003. The data are contained in SAC-format files and are organized according to ASCII tables in the Center for Seismic Studies Schema, version 3.0 database.

  • These data are unqualified pending the completion and submission of a complete QA and Technical Review.
  • The collection of these data were performed using the computer software listed below. Another program called DBWFEXCERPT is used to excerpt the time windows of the desired waveforms from the ones created with REF2ORB. DBWEXCERPT is a module of the Antelope software system and has not been qualified, however, its output is merely an excerpt of the original data file created wtih REF2ORB and is easily checked visually for accuracy relative to the original file. There is no change in the data itself, the submitted files are in binary format and require special software (SAC or DBPICK) in order to view the data.
  • 12/5/05: This data set has been QA and Technically reviewed and are now qualified.

    Acquisition/Development Method: Continuous and triggered seismic dat was acquired at the Nevda Seismological Laboratory and processed to form a catalog of earthquakes in the vicinity of Yucca Mountain. The waveforms associated with each event were initially collected in the Antelope system with REF2ORB and subsequently windowed out and augmented with SAC headers. The ASCII database tables were built in the preliminary processing of the events and contain the pointers to the waveforms.
