Title of Data: Combined seismicity catalog for FY1996-2002 in the vicinity of Yucca Mountain.

Description: This catalog comprises 7 years of seismicity data within 65 km of station RPY (over the designated repository) from 10/01/1995 to 09/30/2002. Although this submittal does not supersede previous data submittals, it is the preferred dataset because it applies uniform event inclusion criteria for the entire 7 year period and reports the data for all years in a common format (HYPO2000).

    Comments:

  • This dataset was developed from and is nearly an exact replacement of previous annual submittals of seismicity data. (See list of source data) Deviations from the exact replacement are very few and are documented in Scientific Notebook UCCSN-UNR-053. The deviations include the inclusion of data from a 10 day period that was omitted from the original submittals and the exclusion of a few events outside the 65 km radius.
  • The data are in HYPO2000 ASCII format, a common format in seismology.
  • The dates in the title refer to the dates of the seismic activity. The development period below refers to the period when the originally submitted datasets were compiled into this single submittal.
  • This dataset is currently unqualified because it has not completed all required reviews.
  • 07/07/2004: These data have completed required reviews and are now qualified.

    Procedures used: Data compilation was conducted in accordance with QAP-3.0, "Scientific Investigation Control," revision 9. Data from the 10 day period reffered to in the comments were generated in accordance with IPR-002, "Determining the Location of Earthquakes Recorded by the Yucca Mountain Seismic Network," rev 3 and IPR-003, "Determining the Magnitude of Earthquakes Recorded by the Yucca Mountain Seismic Network," rev 4.
