Title of Data: Accelerogram recordings in 2003 at three boreholes of the pad of the north portal of the ESF.

Description: These data are raw accelerogram recordings from Kinemetrics Episensor and Hyposensor instruments for 8 particular earthquakes having fair to good S/N ratios at boreholes RF13, RF15, and RF16. At each borehole, 3 accelerometers, each with 3 components of motion, are represented. One is at the surface, the second is roughly 15 m into the borehole, and the last is at the borehole bottom, roughly 100 m.The data files for this submittal have been incorporated into a UNIX Zip archive and may not be fully compatible with some MS DOS or MS Windows file utility software such as WinZip."

  • These data are unqualified pending the completion of the required data qualification reviews. Data are unqualified because they have not completed all required reviews and because the revision of the IP used to collect the data has not yet been identified.

    4/26/2005:These data have completed the required data qualification reviews in accordance with QAP-3.7, "Qualification of Unqualified Data", Rev. 2, DCN#1 and the Data Qualification Plan, report # DQR-04-02 and are now qualified.
    Instrumentation is calibrated and checked to remain within a 5% tolerance for amplitude reduction using the nominal value of 0.000234 cm/s2/count. Horizontal component orientations are nominal, but likely accurate to within 10 degrees. Insufficient data has been collected to verify the orientation accuracy.The data format is documented in the accompanying file "fps_format.txt". Longitude and latitude are in the NAD27 reference frame..

    Acquisition/Development Method: The data were collected from 9 accelerometers at 3 borehole sites and transmitted to the Antelope recording system via the software Q3302ORB. Windows of the data were saved in SAC format with an Antelope utility script.
