Comments:
Dates in the title refer to the data collection period. Dates below refer to the entire data acquisition period which includes the data reduction period.
The data are unqualified pending the completion of required reviews and the identification of the specific revisions of the implementing procedures used.
09/07/2007: These data have been upgraded to "Qualified" due to the successful qualification of its source data.

Procedures used:

  • IPR-001, "Operation of the Yucca Mountain Digital Seismic Network," ;
  • IPR-002, " Determining the Location of Earthquakes Recorded by the Yucca Mountain Seismic Network," revs. 2, 3, & 4;
  • IPR-003, "Determining the Magnitude of Earthquakes Recorded by the Yucca Mountain Seismic Network," revs. 3 & 4

    Software used:
    FPFIT 1.0 (10083-1.0-00)
    HYPOINVERSE 1.0 (10080-1.0-00)

    Acquisition/Development Method: The data were collected from stations of the Southern Great Basin Digital Seismic Network and a small number of analog stations. Data was processed through the Antelope data collection system, HYPOINVERSE to obtain locations, and then FPFIT to determine the focal mechanisms.

    Location(s):

  • University of Nevada, Reno
  • Western United States

    Source Data Usage Information
    006DV.001 approx. 3-5% of the source dataset, namely those with magnitude >= 1.5, were used as input. The source data included all events located for the fiscal year 2001. A subset of only the largest events was made, as focal mechanisms cannot normally be determined for small events. Hypocentral data and associated
