Title of Data: Concentration Of Trace Elements In Passive Leachates By Time For Select Yucca Mountain Exploratory Studies Facility samples.

Description: This unqualified data set includes concentrations of select elements in seep collected from the south ramp of the Exploratory Studies Facility during the winter and spring of 2005. The data also includes concentration of elements in leachates of fault gouge and fractured wall rock as a function of leach time with deionized water.

These data supersede data identified by: N/A

These data have been superseded by: N/A

Comments: This data set is unqualified because chain of custody forms were not used in transferring the samples to the analysts. However, there was no impact on the samples and the resulting data since although custody was not documented for these samples, it was implemented. They were controlled with the other samples for which custody is documented. In addition, no abnormalities were observed in the analytical results.

    Procedures used:

  • IPLV-003, "Measurement of Elements in Water Samples by Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS)", Rev. 3.
  • IPLV-009, "Measurements of Trace Elements in Water Samples by Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS)", Rev. 3

  • QAP-3.6, "Submittal of Data", Rev. 5

    Software used: N/A

Acquisition/Development Method: ICP-MS generated the data by making a calibration curve. The instrument software is able to determine the concentration of the element by acquiring a response for the sample using the calibration curve. The data acquired from the instrument is reduced using Microsoft Excel 2003.
