Welcome to the Southern Nevada Archaeological Archive webpage. On this page you will find information and forms for requesting record searches and obtaining site numbers.

Record Search Performed By Patron

The Southern Nevada Archaeological Archive is located within the Harry Reid Center for Environmental Studies on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus. Those wishing to access the archive should note that record searches conducted in the archive are by appointment only. Because we currently have no full time archivist, appointments are imperative so that a staf member will avaliable to help you. Appointments are only available Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. To schedule an appointment contact Diane Winslow, Director, at 702-895-2687. For a listing of fees, please consult our schedule.

Record Search Performed By HRC Staff

If you would like HRC staff to conduct a records search on your behalf, download the following form, fill it out completely, and return it to HRC attention Diane Winslow. The form can be returned via snail mail, email, or fax (see form for address/fax information). Please note that each record search request MUST be accompanied by a 1:24,000 scale (7.5') USGS topographic map with your project area clearly delineated. Your map will be returned to you with the relevant cultural resources information plotted on it. If your map is not to scale, your records search cannot be processed.

Obtaining A Site Number

Archaeologists in need of new site numbers (Smithsonian trinomial) for the following counties: CLARK, LINCOLN, NYE, WHITE PINE, and ESMERELDA, must fill out a request form. Completed request forms must then be submitted to HRC attention Diane Winslow, via snail mail, email or fax (see the form for addresses/fax numbers). Incomplete forms cannot be processed. Isolated finds are not issued site numbers in Nevada.

Nevada site records should be prepared using Intermountain Antiquities Computer Systems (IMACS) forms.
