Our Mission

The Arboretum at UNLV serves the campus,  the community, and the region through displays of flora adaptable to southern  Nevada, the Mojave Desert, and other arid regions.  The plant collection supports teaching and research, enhances campus beauty, and fosters awareness of plants in the human environment.

About Us

 In 2003 UNLV created a long-range plan to guide Arboretum development from 2003 through 2012. The plan outlines policies, goals, strategies, and specific recommendations related to the five basic functions of a university arboretum:

bullet Providing living plant collections to support teaching and research;
bullet Strengthening the campus image and sense of place;
bullet Disseminating knowledge through publications and programs;
bullet Operating and maintaining the arboretum; and
bullet Coordinating, networking and consulting within the university, the community, the region, and the nation.

Click on the links below to access the Long-Range Plan.
