The Slow Food Movement Hits Las Vegas! Slow Food was conceived 19 years ago with Carlo Petrini as a fast food restaurant opened at the Spanish Steps in Rome. Born from the loss of local food traditions, apathy toward food origins and declining food taste, Slow Food presently has 80,000 members in 850 convivia (local chapters) worldwide. Slow Food-Las Vegas has finally arrived, paralleling our blossoming restaurant industry. In Slow Food the consumer is recognized as co-producer, co-chef and nurturer because without support and appreciation, Slow Food would die.
Slow Food is a non-profit, educational organization dedicated to supporting and celebrating the food traditions of North America. Slow Food conducts programs and activities dedicated to taste education, local food production and biodiversity, and the building of food communities. Slow Food believes that pleasure and quality in everyday life can be achieved by slowing down, respecting the convivial traditions of the table and celebrating the diversity of the earth's bounty.
Slow Food - Las Vegas has events on a regular basis with topics like wine tasting, cheese and Nevada produce and beef.
